Prediction markets are increasingly betting that the U.S. government will confirm the existence of alien life this year, with Polymarket odds reaching 20%. The speculation follows President Trump’s announcement that the Pentagon will release “very interesting” files related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). A similar bet on Kalshi, another major prediction market, is even more optimistic, estimating a 22.5% probability for alien disclosure in 2026.
Trump and the Pentagon Files
President Trump said on May 4, “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t. I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people.” Kash Patel, director of the FBI, later stated that the UAP files have already been delivered for release. This has fueled speculation among traders that something significant might be coming soon.
Religious Leaders and Intelligence Meetings
But the most puzzling reports come from religious leaders. According to three different pastors, a half-dozen religious leaders met with intelligence officials to discuss how the church would respond after alien life is confirmed. American evangelist and podcaster Tony Merkel said the officials in the meeting were “Christians in intelligence operations, and they are specifically geared towards, initially, it was to gather evidence and data on what’s actually going on behind the scenes within the disclosure community.”
Skepticism and Obama’s Take
Not everyone is convinced. Former President Barack Obama recently addressed the issue by stressing that the government was not keeping “little green men underground somewhere.” He added, “If there were aliens or alien spaceships or anything under the control of the United States government that we knew about, seen, photographs, what have you … I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend to impress her.” Obama’s skepticism contrasts sharply with the growing buzz in prediction markets and among some religious leaders.
Market Sentiment
The odds on Polymarket have risen steadily since the Trump announcement, and Kalshi’s 22.5% probability suggests that some traders see a real chance of confirmation this year. But whether this is driven by actual insider knowledge or just hype remains unclear. The meetings between pastors and intelligence officials add another layer of mystery, though it’s possible they are simply preparing for a hypothetical scenario rather than an imminent reveal. For now, the prediction markets are watching closely.
