Crypto influencer and known party animal Ansem — real name Zion Thomas — has been banned from using Uber. The ride-hailing company sent him a notification on X (formerly Twitter) saying his account was removed due to a low 4.2 rating.
Uber said that his score hadn’t improved since a prior warning, meaning he was already on thin ice. At first, Ansem did not offer much context, leaving followers guessing. One user joked that he probably made drivers wait while his girls got ready. His reply? “It’s really not my fault.”
The Podcast Explanation
Later, on his Market Bubble podcast, Ansem shared more details. He described it as “an accumulation of just bad habits” and admitted he is “always late.” He also said, “Every time I call Uber, we’re loud as f**k in the Uber. I got hella people with me, people screaming in the back seat.”
He defended his lateness by explaining the chaos of leaving a club: people still getting ready, drinking inside, and struggling to find friends. In short, he acknowledged that a 4.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident — he earned it.
Uber’s Guidelines
Uber has community guidelines that apply to both drivers and passengers. These rules can lead to suspensions. For example, bringing open alcohol containers or illegal drugs is not allowed. The company also bans aggressive, confrontational, or harassing behavior. Riders must respect others and avoid rude language or actions.
Other rules include following the law, wearing seatbelts, and not bringing firearms. Fraud is also forbidden.
It’s not entirely clear what rating gets a rider banned. In 2019, reports said drivers needed a 4.6 average over their last 100 trips to stay active. For riders, Uber claims it gives people with below-average scores several chances to improve.
Unfortunately for Ansem, his repeated lateness and tendency to bring rowdy passengers along seem to have sealed his fate. Whether he finds a replacement service or learns to behave remains to be seen.
