A quieter test for XRP DeFi
XRP’s DeFi story is not riding a simple speculative wave. It depends on liquidity, on-chain activity, and whether investors stay for longer than a few weeks. That makes the current setup more complicated than a price chart alone suggests.
One metric matters here: total value locked. TVL shows how much capital sits inside DeFi protocols. For XRPL, that number has cooled. According to DefiLlama data cited in the report, XRPL’s TVL slipped by around $5 million from its late-September peak of $46 million. Not a collapse, but not a growth signal either.
Stablecoins tell a similar story. XRPL stablecoin market cap dropped 6.3% to $1.23 billion. Lower stablecoin liquidity can mean fewer dollars waiting to move into DeFi. If that trend continues, adoption may slow. So while XRP holders may be active, the broader base of capital looks thinner.
Doppler vault makes a mark
One bright spot is Doppler’s XRP Vault. Its holdings recently peaked at 90 million XRP, worth more than $127 million. That is a notable milestone for XRPL DeFi. It shows some users are willing to lock up sizeable positions.
Still, the vault’s rise does not cancel out weaker stablecoin and TVL figures. A single product can show interest while the wider market stays cautious. For a real DeFi cycle, you would want more liquidity, more stablecoin supply, and more protocols competing for users.
Evernorth and the XRPN listing
Then there is Evernorth. The company reportedly holds 473 million XRP, making it one of the largest XRP treasuries. Its upcoming XRPN listing on Nasdaq could change how investors get exposure to XRP. Instead of buying the token directly, they might buy shares in a vehicle tied to XRP. Some have compared the idea to how MSTR gives investors indirect Bitcoin exposure.
That comparison is not perfect. MSTR is an operating company with its own strategy. XRPN would need a clear reason for shareholders to stay. A yield strategy could be one answer. If Evernorth offers yield to XRPN holders, it may create demand for XRP itself. That could feed back into XRPL DeFi.
Tokenization adds another layer
XRPL is also gaining ground in tokenized commodities. One data point cited net inflows of $2.2 billion on XRPL, compared with $1.6 billion on Ethereum in 2026. That date may look odd, but the trend is the point. Monthly real-world asset transfers on XRPL reportedly peaked at $7.03 billion, a 224-fold increase.
Together, the Evernorth listing and tokenization activity could generate fresh demand. But the risk is clear. If liquidity keeps falling, those catalysts may not be enough. XRP’s DeFi narrative is worth watching in Q4. It just needs more than one vault or one listing to prove it has staying power.
