JustLend DAO completed the fifth round of its JST buyback and burn program on October 16. The Tron-based lending protocol removed 170,723,144 JST from circulation. At the time, the tokens were worth about $23.53 million. The DAO confirmed the transfer to a designated burn address in an October 17 announcement. It also said the round closes the first phase of a program the community approved in October 2025.
Fifth Burn Removes 170.7 Million JST
The burn is part of a mechanism that sends the protocol’s operating income into buying back and destroying JST. JustLend does not mint new tokens for incentives here. It uses realized revenue to reduce the existing supply, and each burn is completed on-chain. The DAO published the transaction hash, so holders can check the transfer on the Tron blockchain explorer. That makes the removal verifiable rather than dependent on an internal ledger.
Funding Came From Protocol Income
The announcement named two sources for the fifth round: $9,280,216 of third-quarter net income and $10,340,249 from a historical revenue allocation. The 170,723,144 JST removed represented 1.72% of total supply. The DAO valued the burned tokens at $23,531,749 at the time of the transaction. I think the split matters because it shows the buyback was tied to income and prior revenue, not a standalone token grant or a one-off promise.
Total Burned Supply Reaches 19%
Across five quarterly rounds, JustLend DAO has burned 1,881,973,007 JST. That equals 19.01% of the token’s supply as of October 16. The governing proposal directs all of the DAO’s net income, plus any USDD multichain revenue above $10 million, toward repurchasing and burning JST. The vote that started the program took place on October 21, 2025. Five rounds have now been completed on a quarterly schedule over roughly one year.
Next Phase Still Undefined
With the fifth round finished, the initiative moves into a new phase. JustLend DAO said updated mechanics and future arrangements will be announced shortly, and financial disclosures will continue on a regular basis. It has not yet published the size or frequency of the next round, so the exact path from here remains open. Burned JST is removed permanently and cannot re-enter circulation. Because the buyback is funded from operating income, future burn sizes will depend on how much revenue JustLend generates each quarter. The schedule sits inside wider activity across Tron’s DeFi space, where JustLend operates as one of the network’s core lending venues.
