Dogecoin is getting more ways for holders to use their coins. In the past week, DogeOS launched a public test network for Ethereum-style trading, lending, and other apps that use $DOGE. The project describes itself as the app layer for Dogecoin. It was founded by the team behind MyDoge, a Dogecoin wallet. Developers can use familiar software and Ethereum compatibility to build.
New Build Options Arrive
Dogecoin Foundation director Timothy Stebbing pointed to the launch in a recent post on X. He said there was an absolute avalanche of new projects building on the Doge/EVM chain. He also noted that Metallicus launched DogecoinVM, which bridges Dogecoin to the Metal network. For Stebbing, there are more options than ever to build on Dogecoin.
DogeOS and DogecoinVM take different paths, but both aim to expand what Dogecoin can do. DogeOS leans on Ethereum-style tools. DogecoinVM is described as a $DOGE-compatible ledger on the Metal Blockchain. Dogecoin itself does not change. What changes is speed and interoperability. According to the project, that setup makes Dogecoin 300x faster with instant finality. That is a big claim, and it will need real usage to prove out. Still, the direction is clear. Builders now have more places to test ideas beyond simple payments and price bets.
Daily Chart Nears Golden Cross
Dogecoin may also be nearing a technical signal. The daily chart is on track for a golden cross as the MA 50 and MA 200 move toward convergence. If confirmed, it would be Dogecoin’s first golden cross of 2026. The last one came more than a year ago, in August 2025. One month later, in September 2025, Dogecoin rose to a high of $0.30. That does not guarantee a repeat, but traders often watch such crosses for momentum clues.
The broader market remains weak, though. Dogecoin was trading down on both a daily and weekly basis at $0.093. It moved with the rest of crypto after a weaker-than-expected September jobs report changed traders’ outlook for a Federal Reserve rate hike in October. A hike this month is now seen as extremely unlikely. Investors are still pricing in a possible Fed hike in December. The next interest rate decision is set for the end of a two-day policy meeting on October 28.
What Comes Next
For now, Dogecoin’s network news and price action are pulling in different directions. Developers are pushing new tools, while the market waits on macro data and the Fed. If the golden cross confirms, it could give short-term traders something to watch. If the new apps gain users, it could matter more over time. Both stories are worth following, but neither is settled yet.
