Ripple’s monthly escrow release is due Sunday, November 1, 2026. The schedule will make 1 billion XRP available from two escrow accounts, 500 million each. It does not mean the tokens will hit the market. Ripple must submit an EscrowFinish transaction. Until then, the unlock is only a scheduled date, not a confirmed transfer or sale.
What the unlock means for supply
The release can increase available supply if Ripple moves tokens. But the company has historically returned much of each monthly unlock to escrow. On-chain tracking cited in the report shows Ripple re-locked about 700 million XRP, or 70% of each release, over the 12 months through October 2026. That left around 300 million XRP outside escrow each month for operations, liquidity, and network activities. Perhaps the market impact will be smaller than the headline number suggests.
Old tokens still sit in Ripple wallets
Two Ripple-controlled wallets held 500 million XRP each as of October 29. Those tokens came from the October 1 unlock, and neither wallet had sent an outgoing payment since receiving them, according to on-chain data. That leaves an unusual setup: Ripple could access another 1 billion XRP while last month’s allocation remains in place. I think this is why the scheduled date matters less than what Ripple actually does with the tokens.
Market backdrop stays weak
The unlock comes as spot XRP ETFs in the U.S. recorded $3.61 million in outflows in the week to October 29. That raises questions about institutional demand. Large holders, however, kept accumulating. Wallets with at least 10 million XRP controlled 46.87 billion tokens, about 68.5% of circulating supply.
XRP traded at $1.24 by press time, down about 0.9% over 24 hours and more than 2% over the past week. It sits below its 50-day simple moving average of $1.39 and its 200-day average of $1.28. The 50-day remains above the 200-day, so a longer-term bearish crossover has not happened. The 14-day RSI was 37.46, weak but above oversold. A recovery in buying pressure could help XRP test the $1.28 level first, though further downside remains possible.
