Cryptocurrency data platform CoinGecko has just released a fresh list of the most popular cryptocurrencies on its platform. The rankings are based on user search data collected over the last three hours.
The data shows that investor interest is spread across different categories, including memecoin projects and AI-focused altcoins. It is not just one sector dominating the charts right now. Rather, there’s a mix of speculative assets and more established layer-1 protocols.
Pudgy Penguins took the top spot, which might surprise some people. The NFT-related token has clearly captured a lot of attention recently. Following Pudgy Penguins, $NEAR Protocol and Pi Network claimed the second and third positions, respectively.
Notable Gainers and Market Movements
Two projects stood out with particularly strong price increases during this period. $NEAR Protocol and Grass both saw significant upward momentum. According to CoinGecko’s data, the full list of most searched cryptocurrencies also reflects their total market capitalizations, though the platform did not specify exact figures for every entry.
Looking at the last 24 hours, the price action tells an interesting story. Railgun recorded a massive 54.1% increase, making it one of the best-performing assets in this window. Grass also surged, gaining 26.7%, while $NEAR Protocol added 16.4% to its value. These are fairly large moves for a short period, especially in a market that has been somewhat quiet lately.
What This Tells Us About Current Sentiment
The presence of both newer projects like Grass and older narratives like NEAR suggests that traders are not just chasing one trend. There does not seem to be a single clear leader in terms of narrative. Instead, people are searching for a variety of tokens, maybe looking for the next breakout or just trying to understand what is moving.
Of course, being the most searched does not always mean it is the best investment. Search interest can be driven by hype, fear of missing out, or even confusion about a project. It is a useful indicator of attention, not necessarily of long-term value.
